Advocates - Mental Health
These can provide information and advocacy support on any issue raised. Most commonly they are asked about:
- Medication
- Services for people with mental health problems
- Housing and homelessness
- Community Care
- Benefits
- Employment
- Family Law
Advocates do not know everything about all the topics on which they are asked for information, but have access to information through links with other agencies. All problems and enquiries are dealt with in confidence.
Advocates will also help service users wishing to make complaints about any aspect of the services they receive.
Advocates will not undertake work which should be carried out by service professionals, but will work with clients and staff on behalf of service users, to ensure they get the care and support they feel they need.
